What is World Sight Day?

 

World Sight Day, this year officially October 9, is a day dedicated to helping the more than 600 million people throughout the world get access to eyecare.  Optometry Giving Sight who host World Sight Day every year and set up the World Sight Day Challenge, work to raise money to train eyecare professionals, establish vision centers and deliver eyecare and low cost glasses to those in need.  This wonderful organization has made a huge difference since it was established in 2003.  Optometry Giving Sight has set up more than 60 projects in over 38 countries!  For more information about Optometry Giving Sight and their impact please visit http://www.givingsight.org/projects/our-projects/new-current-projects.html to see what they have completed and what is in the works!

 

Arizona College of Optometry wanted to get involved with this incredible cause to do our part and help those in need.  Our college has always been very active in both local and global volunteer projects.
